Daniel Korb
Designer of
ivolve and
sense
"The age of Leonardo da Vinci is gone," notes designer Daniel Korb, "but still I believe a holistic view to the world is needed." Baden, Switzerland, is the vantage point for Korb's perspective. It's where he was born and the place where he and his wife Susan operate Korb + Korb, which they founded in 1989.
Like many leading designers of modern office furniture, Korb started as an architect. Since then, his design expertise has broadened and his inspiration refined. Today, his creativity finds expression in architecture, communication, and design. The intersection of these disciplines results in innovative ideas and, ultimately, smarter end products.
Korb + Korb is synonymous with simple and intuitive design. It's this thinking that attracted the attention of Herman Miller and led to the creation of Sense.
Sense is based on the concept; simplicity. This simplicity lets Sense solve the complex issues faced by the individual in the modern workplace, whether that be in the office or at home.
Sense's efficient design and European sensibilities makes it a strong performer in a variety of environments. It is an eloquent statement of Korb + Korb's mantra. Daniel Korb believe’s that progress is possible, that simple is better than complex. That philosophy has yielded twenty-plus national and international design awards.
“Everything starts with a strong product;” says Daniel “Good marketing cannot compensate for a weak product, but can make a strong one even stronger. The right message is the key to the customer and we at Korb+Korb believe that in the future this will become more and more important.”
In an illustrious career to date, what has Daniel learned? "Success is never final; it takes a while to understand a business; move before you are moved," he says.
